Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply when you book work with AI Handyman Brighton or use our website.
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Please read these terms before booking. They are written in plain English. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
1. About us
AI Handyman Brighton ("we", "us") is the trading name of Lubos Winkler, a sole trader providing handyman, property maintenance and IT support services in Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area. When you book work with us, your contract is with Lubos Winkler.
25 Bedford Place, Brighton, BN1 2PT · 01273 044551 · info@aihandyman.co.uk
2. Quotes and prices
- For most jobs we give a fixed written quote before any work starts. A quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise.
- Prices shown on our website ("from £…") are guides. The price for your job is the one in your quote.
- We don't charge a call-out fee for quoted work.
- Materials are charged at cost unless your quote includes them.
- If we find something during the job that wasn't visible when we quoted — hidden damage, for example — we'll stop, explain, and agree any extra cost with you before carrying on. We won't add charges you haven't agreed.
- IT diagnostics: where we offer "no fix, no fee", you pay the diagnostic charge only if we can identify the fault, and it is waived if you go ahead with the repair.
3. Booking, access and your responsibilities
- A job is booked once we've agreed a date and the scope of work with you.
- Please make sure we can get in at the agreed time, that the work area is reasonably clear, and that we have access to electricity and water where the job needs them.
- Tell us about anything that affects the work or safety — known hazards, asbestos, pets, parking restrictions, or building rules in flats.
- If you're a tenant, you are responsible for getting your landlord's permission for the work.
4. Changing or cancelling a booking
- You can rearrange or cancel an appointment free of charge by giving us at least 24 hours' notice.
- If we can't get access at the agreed time, or you cancel with less notice, we may charge for time reasonably wasted and for any materials bought specifically for your job that can't be returned.
- If we need to rearrange, we'll tell you as early as we can and offer the next available slot.
5. Your 14-day right to cancel
If you're a consumer and you agreed the job with us at your home, or remotely (by phone, email, WhatsApp or our website), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing it, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
- To cancel, just tell us clearly by phone, email or WhatsApp.
- If you ask us to start the work within the 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work carried out up to that point.
- If the work has been fully completed at your request within the 14 days, the right to cancel no longer applies.
6. Payment
- We'll send you an invoice when the work is finished. Payment is due within the time shown on the invoice.
- For larger jobs, or where we need to order significant materials, we may ask for a part-payment up front. We'll always agree this with you before booking.
- For businesses, we may charge statutory interest on late payments under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
7. Our workmanship guarantee
We stand behind our work. If a fault caused by our workmanship appears within 12 months of the job being completed, tell us and we'll come back and put it right at no charge.
The guarantee doesn't cover:
- materials or items you supplied, or manufacturers' defects in products (these are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which we'll help you use)
- normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, or work changed by someone else afterwards
- existing faults in the property that weren't part of the job
This guarantee is in addition to your legal rights, not instead of them.
8. IT support and your data
- Before we work on a computer, phone or other device, please back up anything important where you can. We take care with your data, but faulty or failing devices can lose data regardless of what we do.
- We only access the devices, accounts and files we need for the job, and we don't keep copies of your data unless you ask us to (for example, for a data transfer).
- You're responsible for making sure any software you ask us to install is properly licensed.
- Monthly business support runs month to month. Either of us can end it by giving notice before the next monthly period starts. There's no long tie-in.
9. Insurance and liability
- We carry public liability insurance and can provide proof on request.
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
- We are not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses (such as lost profit) when you've booked us as a consumer.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
10. Work we can decline
We can decline or stop a job if it turns out to be unsafe, needs a qualified specialist (for example, gas work or notifiable electrical work), or is outside what we agreed. If that happens, you only pay for work already done.
11. Complaints
If you're not happy with any part of our work, please tell us as soon as possible by phone, email or WhatsApp. We'll look into it and aim to resolve it quickly and fairly.
12. Using our website
- We keep the information on our website accurate and up to date, but it is general information, not a quote.
- The content, text and photos on this website belong to us. Please don't copy them without permission.
- Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we're not responsible for their content.
- How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your job is the one in place when you booked.
